In my role as a Commissioning Engineer, I have worked with some of the best Installation Teams that the Industry has to offer.
Whilst I am always happy to recommend Installers, I am equally as happy working alongside anyone to bring a project home.
From a project management perspective, I am also happy to drive a project from Design to Completion using Installers with a fantastic track record.
Commissioning
During the installation, the commissioning team naturally takes on the role of driving the project towards completion.
In my experience whilst the project is very rarely “ready to commission” on arrival the time spent at the stage is priceless in driving the project forward and highlighting issues whilst the install teams are still on-site.
Another often overlooked area that I take on as a freelance Commissioning Engineer is to undertake the required documentation during this stage.
- Marking up schematics.
- Collecting missing serial numbers and mac addresses
- Competing the AVIT/IP Schedule
- Testing and liaising with the network team.
- Creating and completing project trackers
So whilst the early stages on-site rarely involve offering up completed spaces they are essential in pushing the projects forward.
